Historical Facts

With 727 residents, Lac Baker is hemmed in between two wooded hills and a mirror-like lake.

The first families to arrive, settled around 1855. In 1876, the first chapel was built and the parish was founded in 1886. In the early part of the century,ice used to be broken off in blocks and shipped by rail to Edmundston for storage

Did you know that water sports are very popular in Lac Baker? Sports fishing in summer and ice-fishing in winter make “teasing the fish” a fisherman’s dream.
